By downloading, installing, or using the Keru iOS application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”).
If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Keru Tech, LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted within the App or on our website, and continued use after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
Keru is an ingredient and product analysis app designed to help users make informed choices when shopping for food, cosmetics, and household products.
Core features include:
- Ingredient scanning using OCR technology
- Cruelty-free logo detection
- Eat Clean scoring system
- Nutrition label and traffic light analysis
- Daily Value (DV) alerts and customizable thresholds
- Allergen detection and alerts
- Palm oil and mica identification
- Clean/non-toxic beauty product assessment
- Ingredient breakdown for flagged ingredients
- Offline functionality
- Multilingual text recognition
- Scan history (limited recent scans)
- User-configurable feature toggles

3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Keru. Users aged 13–16 should only use the App with parental consent. By using Keru, you confirm that you meet this eligibility requirement.
4. Accounts and Subscriptions
Keru requires an account for access. You may sign up using:
- Email and password, or
- Google Sign-In
Subscription Plans
Keru offers paid membership tiers (in USD):
- $2.99 weekly
- $4.99 monthly
- $35.00 annually
All payments and renewals are processed through Apple’s App Store.
By subscribing, you authorize Apple to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis.
Cancellation and Refunds
Subscriptions can be canceled anytime through your App Store account settings. You will retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period. Because the App provides digital content, all purchases are non-refundable.
5. User Responsibilities
You agree to use Keru only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, copy, or modify the App or its code
- Attempt to access data without authorization
- Upload or scan personal documents or unrelated materials
- Misuse the scanning feature (e.g., scanning personal photos or confidential content)
- Use the App for any commercial, harmful, or misleading purposes
Keru is intended solely for scanning product packaging, such as ingredient lists, nutrition facts, and product logos.
6. Third-Party Services and Links
Keru uses third-party services to operate, including:
- Firebase (for authentication, storage, analytics, and crash reporting)
- Google Gemini (for logo and nutrition)
- Google Forms (for feedback and issue reporting)
These third parties may process limited data under their own privacy policies. Keru does not include external links or advertisements, except for official Google Forms used for support or reporting issues.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, code, features, and trademarks within Keru are owned or licensed by Keru Tech LLC. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes only. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written consent.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Keru is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.
While we strive for accuracy, Keru cannot guarantee 100% accuracy of scanning or analysis results, including ingredient or allergen identification.
Keru should not be used as a substitute for medical or dietary advice, and users with severe allergies or medical conditions should always verify product information directly from packaging or manufacturers.
We make no warranty that the App will always function uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Keru Tech, LLC, its officers, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from:
- Use or inability to use the App
- Reliance on any data, analysis, or output generated by the App
- Any inaccuracies or omissions in ingredient or nutrition information
- Users assume full responsibility for their reliance on the information provided.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Keru at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in misuse.
Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in state or federal courts located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
